Several years ago I designed a fairly decent looking website for a group called Anne Hutchinson. Yes, that Anne Hutchinson. For a while they were going by the name "Anne Hutchinson, The Lady In Blue' so we purchased a domain name for them, "Ladyinblue.com." I had signed up to renew the domain automatically by mistake so it renewed for a while even after I stopped doing the site.
Turns out I should have kept it. I visited the URL a while back and found a domain selling company had picked it up. The site now has a submission for to get a quote on purchasing it and mentions their domains sell for between "688-1,000,000." I could have been rich!
My interview and discovery of Rifftrax has me on a Mike Nelson kick as of late. I just ordered his book Mind Over Matters and got another Rifftrax to consume. This is one funny and talented individual. I ran across another interview with him that makes me respect him even more. Read on.
LS: In an interview, you said you were trying to raise your children in a Christian household. What does that mean to you? How do you try to live a Christian life?
MN: Well, it's difficult, especially in this day and age, to talk about it in public without either embarrassing a lot of people or coming across like a weirdo, but it's the very centerpiece of our lives. We're heavily involved in our church, my wife works with youth groups and churches as her profession, and almost every career and life decision I make depends upon it.
Incidentally, I do a great deal of reading and study of Christian Ethics and Apologetics, especially J.P. Moreland, Norman Geisler, Greg Koukl, Francis Beckwith and William Lane Craig. And, on a different level, there's always the warm embrace of C.S. Lewis.
LS: What place does religion have in our lives? Can you be moral without belief in God?
MN: Well, as a Judeo-Christian nation, there's obviously a great tradition of religion, but I do think there now seems to be a phobia about speaking of it in the public sphere. It's too bad, because it closes off a gigantic, well-developed and thorough intellectual discipline. (And I happen to believe there's that whole "saving your soul" issue, that I wouldn't want people to lose sight of.) As the apologist Greg Koukl is fond of pointing out, Christianity is well-equipped to compete in the marketplace of ideas.
And
obviously, you can be a wonderful, completely moral, thoroughly
beautiful human being without a belief in God (I think it's much more
difficult, and you'd be pulling it off in spite of your beliefs, not
because of them.) But on the intellectual plane, many Atheist thinkers
have tried to construct a framework for morality and all of them have
been unconvincing. To my thinking, "morality" is meaningless unless you
talk about "absolute morality." And you can't do that without bringing
God into it.

Apples bassit Eric Allen sits down with Ky.Buzzgrinder to discuss their new deal with Elijah Wood's Simian Records, their forthcoming LP and life on the road.
I recently saw the latest video from Evanescene for the track Call Me When Your Sober. The band sinks to new lows of patheticness with a sound simlar to their previous effort. I know they are trying to stay hip and cool but was it really nescesary to rip off My Chemical Romance's Helena video. MCR is neither hip nor cool.
I preordered the new album Brother, Sister from mewithoutYou from Best Buy last week on Sunday. I was notified that it had shipped out on Monday instead of Tuesday, which was the release day. I had paid for two-day shipping due to my impatience and hoped to receive it before weeks end.
Friday came and it hadn't came in yet. Bummer. I was going to Owensboro that night and if I had known of how long it would take then I would have watied and got it then. I found it at FYE and bought it with plans to return the other copy after its arrival.
I got it Saturday, I'm stupid. I took it back but they didn't refund my shipping. Stupid Best Buy!
I went back to Dr. Spurlin Thursday to report in on how the new insulin was doing and for the most part things have been good. Its been low and high but all in all quite a bit more stable than it has been in ages. Still, he recommended I try taking the lantus at night around supper time instead of at breakfast.
For the first time in 12-13 years I don't have to wake up to an insulin shot unless my blood sugar happens to be above 150. However, it seems to have stayed too high since he had me switch. Hopefully we'll get it straightened out soon and I can stop poking holes in myself as much.
When they took blood last week they forgot to get a urine sample. My sister (a nurse at the office I go to) brought home a cup for my deposit but she didn't want to. What kind of sister is that?!?!?! In all honesty I'm not looking forward to walking through the doctors lobby with a cup o' urine so I am hoping their is a restroom in back that I can fill to the brim with my waste so I don't embarrass myself in front of other patients.
I switched doctors and had an appointment this previous week. Upon hearing my story he mentions a new insulin known as "Lantus" that he thinks I should be put on. Lantus will allow me to eventually only take one shot a day as opposed to the two I have taken since my younger days. This will supposidly keep my bloodsugar levels regular so it all sounded good.
I've been on Lantus since last Saturday and things seem to be improving with my previous bloodsugar recklesness. Its gotten low a couple of times and high a couple of times but for the most part things have been great. I think I even feel better than I did beforehand.
My doctor that I saw before this never made mention of Lantus once... boo old doctor.
I saw this preview quite a while ago online and marked it as a top priority to see. I loved... read more
